Pony Club is the largest equestrian educational organization in the world. This is where it all begins! The cornerstones of our foundation are education, safety, sportsmanship, stewardship and FUN. Members learn riding and the care of horses through mounted sports. The skills, habits and values instilled through horsemanship will apply to every part of a member’s life.
The United States Pony Club offers a curriculum of both riding and horse management. The program includes both mounted and un-mounted lessons. Members can specialize in the equestrian disciplines of Eventing, Show Jumping, Dressage, and Western. Pony Club offers certifications (testing) that provide a standardized skills assessment so if members move to another area of the country their certification allows the new club to know what level they have achieved in both riding and horse management. We have competitions (called Rallies) with other clubs in the area or within our own club. This helps the members learn the skills they need to be able to attend competitions independently. Part of Pony Club is also learning how to teach – at their 3rd level certification (D3) they are required to assist at a lesson. Every skill in Pony Club starts at a basic level and proceeds in depth as they move up the certification level.
